"hey, sho, do you think we should get a dog?"
sho froze, hand outstretched to grab a coffee cup from the top cabinet in their shared kitchen. he glanced warily at aiba, mouth agape.
"i'm sorry, i thought you just said we should get a dog."
"i did! you don't want to get a cute little puppy that we can take on walks together?"
sho sighed, grabbing the red coffee cup. he said nothing as he filled it to the brim with coffee--decaf, of course, because the last thing aiba needed was a caffeine drip at 8:15 AM. he carried the cup to the table and sat down across from the younger man. he took a sip, swallowed, then replied.
"no, i don't. i think you're enough work for both of us."
aiba frowned. "oh, come on," he whined. "it'd be nice! we could take him for walks in the park, play tug-of-war with him, teach him to twirl a baton... he'd be a total chick magnet!"
"um, i don't think we really need a chick magnet around here. what am i, chop liver? and wait, what was the one before that?"
"tug-of-war?"
"after that."
aiba grinned. "oh, baton twirl! don't you remember that video we saw on youtube of that skateboarding dog? i figure we could do one better and teach ours to twirl batons!"
sho groaned.
on second thought, maybe a chick magnet was exactly what he needed.
