As far as I know I was the only person ever paid to write for the magazine... which is pretty funny - because I didn't start getting paid until AFTER the last issue was published.

went to the finals three years running - came away with two silvers and a gold... the second silver medal was probably one of the most frustrating matches I ever had. I shot in for a takedown and got cracked on the back of the head with his hipbone. I was down 9-1 after the first round... came back hard in the second round, got it to 9-7 and had him on his back... one of the judges signaled a pinfall, but the mat ref was didn't - and the other table wasn't able to see what was going on because the mat ref was in the way. With about 30 seconds left he called for a restart in the parterre position... I let him stand and went for a desperation throw... slipped and gave up a single point to lose 10-7.

I should have won that fucker.

I quit wrestling a few months later... training 15-20 hours a week didn't leave much time to be a teenager.
