The great thing about Louisville is... you can hit up a liquor store and pick up the best Bourbon on the planet for a fraction of what you'd pay anywhere else... at that point, who needs a bar?

Also... I'm not sure how long it's been since you were there, but craft brewing seems to have picked up over the past couple of years... I've got a bottle of bourbon barrel stout in the archives - waiting to be shared with some adventurous friends...

Last time I was in Louisville I went out for lunch and was able to get a snifter of 25-year-old Pappy Van Winkle bourbon to accompany my vegetarian lasagne... Maybe you just needed a tour guide.

I suspect that bartenders are more accustomed to serving drinking bourbons, rather than slow-sipping bourbons... Maker's seems to be the one that's most popular for doing shots... my KY friends express a preference for Woodford when it comes to sipping, though.

Personally... I find it tough to beat the Elijah Craig 21-yo... although that Pappy Van Winkle 25-yo was pretty awesome. Perhaps I'll have to do a side-by-side comparison when I'm down there.

i really doubt we'll make it to this. it'd mean having to find an all-day/overnight sitter for ani *twice* in one month, on accounta riot fest.

well.. families take precedence.

It's always good to see old friends, but it's never an obligation.

actually, when i brought it up to kimberly, she said she wanted to go (i didn't realise this was jj's and jason clark's thing). i don't know if it'll be doable, but she was very much into the idea of seeing a lot of people she hasn't seen in a long time.

yeah... the SKL and Untranslatable logos are easy to miss... hell, they don't even warrant as much space on the flyer as Gene Simmons tongue!
