I snuck away from my piles (yes, there are actually stacks that range in height from a fraction of an inch to a foot) of work last night to go see a play written by a friend (1womanarmy - an online friend nonetheless!) called (Comment on this). Yeah, that was the original justification for the capitalization, but the convention just doesn't seem right to me. It feels almost ungrammatical. Besides, things like LAN and WAN have come into usage to replace the former lower-case usage of internet. I guess it's just how the lexicon is evolving. I suppose some people might dismiss minisculization of the internet as the end result of lazy net-dwellers but I would point out that there is even such a thing as lolcat grammar.

(Re: Dubya - Kind of like how the Alaska guy's unintentional "series of tubes" analogy actually isn't a bad analogy for data networks?)
