Why I Suck at Blogging

Dec 28, 2008 16:56

For a long time, I've wanted to really get into blogging. I'm into lots of different things -- computers, politics, philosophy, science, religion, lolcats -- and in the course of those interests, I come across some very interesting things. Hmm...interesting thoughts, good sir. And now, something for me to mull over myself. I've tried blogging a few times. When I have something to just update on, I do ok until I get distracted/forget that the blog exists. The first couple of weeks of the blog about the restoration of my car were great, then I stopped entirely. I've got ideas for other things to blog about, and they never get past the "I should do this" stage. It's the same situation with my girlfriend (I believe you met her at Carolyn and Steve's wedding). She'll get going, and then stop.

We both just kind of said "I suck at blogging" and gave up without a second thought. Something like what you're working on would be a fantastic resource for people like me that want to blog but just don't see a good way to go about it in a way that will still be just as appealing in a few weeks.

See, as someone that consistently comes up on the line between INTJ and INTP (although I feel INTJ fits me better)I agree with you. I do find that with the infrequent posts that are more than surface-level, the ones that I write maybe twice a year that genuinely mean something to me, the ones that satisfy me on a creative level, that I tend to find myself treating the LJ post as a first draft attempt that I save as a Word document and revise/edit/rewrite, even months after I post my rough draft, despite the fact that I have no plans to do anything with these revisions.

I'm also an INTP/INTJ. I spent too much time revising/editing my posts on this blog, http://www.xanga.com/nalalina; so I stopped, but from time to time, I still think about how the essay on abortion could be improved.
