It's always nice to get a post from you darling. Love ain't easy... Isn't there a song about that? ;)
I think that as long as you realize love isn't easy and so does Joe and you're both willing to go through the hurdles together then excellent. It's when the will to work for the relationship goes away that it's bad.
SINCE I AM THE KING OF SUCCESSFUL RELATIONSHIPS AND ALL THINGS LOVE!!!!!!!!!!11111111111, I would like to comment on 'me time.' Now, I will never claim to know anything about what it takes to have a successful relationship (quite frankly, I have no idea), but it does seem to me that having time to yourself is an Important Thing™. Not in that 'get away from your other half' sense, but I think that regardless of how happy you are with someone, you should always be committed to having your own life outside of them. Not separate identities, but you know what I mean. All that aside, I agree with you. Hell, I sit here every day at work clicking my stapler and making paperclip chains wondering when someone will walk into my life and make me ask myself why I ever spent my time on anyone else. I guess I see both sides.
ha! Actually, I thought someone might comment about the "me time" thing. And I agree with you - except that for me I like that there are forced "me times" i.e. when he's working or sleeping or what not. I DEFINITELY take advantage of those times to enjoy being by myself (and not in the dirty way you perv!).
My whole life I've heard people say not to lose your own identity - I say what makes a good relationship is when you are actively interested in each other's "individual" lives so that those two lives mesh together instead of causing inevitable rifts...
Agree about the "me time" - in the times that I've been itching for some me time, it's usually been more that I want/need "time with anyone else but that person" time, heh.
I take advantage of the times Derek's at work to clean up around the house, spend time with friends, go to my parents' house, etc. I'm thankful that I get that time to do what I want/need, especially since Derek doesn't make me feel guilty, like I should be waiting around for him to come home all the time. However, when we both have a free moment, we want to spend it with each other automatically because even after three years and some odd months, we're our favorite people to be around. :)
I love that you said that! I think you verbalized it more clearly than I did. It's definitely a matter of wanting to be with each other simply because there's nothing better!
Hey now! That's a whole 'nother bag o' worms! I don't know at what point in your life/relationships you realized that your way of "doing things" was what appealed to you, but my guess would be that it affected the success potential of your marriage.
Wow, I had a really hard time trying to word that and I still don't think it came out quite right. :/ Trust me, it's meant in a very positive way, but I think it sounded kind of snarky.
