Do you read a lot of fics featuring Amy?

I think your assessment of Amy's character is spot on, btw. She's fire and passion and the love of adventure.

Of course my opinion of most fandoms is pretty low, I'd expect insane drivel before I'd expect anything else.

Not really. Most of the summaries make me go 'augh not reading' and flee screaming from fandom.

I ♥ Amy. At least when she has Rory around, because if you'd notice, the moment she doesn't have Rory she starts to lose the intuitive awesomeness she has when he's around.

There's definitely a synergy when they're together, I was very happy when they invited him along for the ride -- Vampires of Venice, wasn't it? Anyway, I like Rory, it is like he centers and catalyzes her and lets her really reach her full potential.

There's a different synergy with her and the Doctor, he makes her brilliant but volatile, really -- without Rory they're sort of a recipe for disaster in my exceptionally humble opinion. :)

I add, as I browse the section on FF.net, that there are rare gems inamongst the manure, such as this short 'fic on Rory's post-finale situation:
