See, what you do is you either get your employer to pay for your grad school (hmm, wait, you're temping... nevermind then)... or you quit your job and you become a teaching assistant or research assistant at the university and then they university pays your tuition, plus you get really low pay on top of that! OK, I guess neither of those help get out of debt very much, but at least you don't get more in debt by paying tuition. The cool thing is in the Computer Science department, all you have to do to be a sure thing for a teaching assistantship is to speak English fluently. At least, it's cool for me. Not so much for some other people.
Full-time grad school is pretty cool if you don't mind being poor, but I guess that's why over 1/3 of the grads in the department are part-timers who come evenings and Saturdays....

I know... but I've heard that fellowships are harder to come by for History. That and I need to get my non-school debt (which is formidable) out of the way before I can do that...
I will go back, just a question of when...
