So following all the diagnostic tests necessary, I have found out that I have "Factor V Leiden Mutation". It's the mutation of G1691A in Factor V gene ( Read more... )

Glad that she got through that ok. :)

I'm having trouble finding anyone in forums that have been through it.

A few girls in my ivf groups have had to do heparin or clexane throughout their pregnancies. Some were ivf mums, others were mums who'd had multiple miscarriages. None of them had any complications, except I think a few were induced and were closely monitored through the third trimester. I know the clexane shots sting and can leave nasty bruises. But even the ivf shots can leave bruises. I had one that stung like a bee sting. Icing my belly before hand helped a little, but I got all the random, unheard of side affects with that one, along with large golf ball sized bruises.

Ouch about the golf ball sized bruising.

I've had to self administer heparin shots in the past when if injured my foot years ago but did not know I had this clotting disorder at the time.

What sort of IVF groups did you join? The one from my clinic is quite small and its be great to be able to talk to women who've been through it. :-)

I was on a ttc forum which sadly doesn't exist anymore. I also had a blog and followed a few other ivf girls on blogs and instagram. My clinic had a support group, but they only met up irl and I wasn't comfortable meeting up with girls who'd graduated and had babies. It was (and still is) a sore point and I struggled a lot dealing with seeing mummies with little babies.

I can only imagine how painful that must've been when you were going through your own journey. <3

My clinic has a counselling service which I'll likely access as I'm struggling to find anyone having to take heparin during their entire pregnancy.

Are there any active groups left on Livejournal? I've done a search without success.

I've also written on Essential Baby and Bub hub without success.

There's a senior pharmacist at Monash in Melbourne called Rodney Whyte. He's a guru when it comes to medications you can and can't take while you're breastfeeding or pregnant. I've seen his name pop up in the breastfeeding groups all the time but it just occurred to me now that he might be able to answer a few of your questions about Heparin and give you a second opinion and peace of mind.
