[Little Sunny is in the kitchen, singing the Fibonacci sequence and mixing something in a large bowl. There's a cake pan nearby and the stove is preheating while she mixes. And as soon as she starts the electric beater...

Well, the mess was inevitable. Could anyone expect anything better from an eight year old kid? She may know how to cook but a ( Read more... )

[Sunny looks towards the door curiously then back at the mess and the bowl.]

Y-you do?

[That would probably work a lot better, wouldn't it?]

I g-guess I should s-start over, shouldn't I?

[Huey found himself stopping in the hallway when he heard that familiar singing, a sudden small smile floating onto his face. Was that Sunny's voice?]

[He rolled on into the kitchen, stopping soon after coming inside, not wanting to get the cake batter that was on the floor all over his wheels.]

Is that my Sunbeam making such a mess?

[His tone was light, a grin on his face. It felt like forever since he had seen his granddaughter.]

[Sunny smiles and hops off her stepladder, running over to Huey and hugging him.]

It's n-not that big a mess... I-is it?

[Yes Sunny, it is. It's all over her so now there might be cake mix covering Huey now :3]

[His heart warmed a little when he realized it was her.]

[He happily hugged her back, then realizing all the cake that was now on himself. The doctor sighed briefly - he wasn't mad at her. He was just mad at the cake mix.]

No. Not that big of a mess. [The silver fox gently touched the side of his glasses, looking interested.] What kind of cake are you making?

[He quickly got over being covered in cake mix. A washing his clothes and a shower later would fix that no problem anyway. Now, he would concentrate on his granddaughter.]

[At least he wasn't as covered in cake mix as she was now. Most of it stayed pretty well stuck to her.]

Chocolate, it's o-one of my f-favorite kinds.

[It might be good that it ended up in a mess. Some of it was particularly gooey. Like the mix that made it into her hair.]

...This looks like how I would be when trying to make something like that. I am only good at cooking meat.

[The old man gave a chuckle.]

Hmm... I wish I could help you, but sadly, I have no idea.

[He looked around at the mess, and then back to her.]

I could help you clean this all up, though, so you can start fresh?

Th-that's okay. P-people are s-supposed to l-learn from their mistakes, r-right?

[She doesn't want to be a bother but help would be appreciated.]

O-only if it's n-not any t-trouble.

[There's a quiet laugh from the doorway. Well, that wasn't quite what Fox had expected to find in the kitchen- Then again, the last time he was here he found Big Boss's mirror image wearing tentacles and a kitten apron. This was rather reassuringly normal in comparison, which was probably why it was so surprising.]

You'll get the hang of it eventually.

[Aww, now why hadn't she been able to find such a cute apron for this little project. She turns and laughs a little then looks back at the mess.]

Y-you really think s-so?

[Solidus probably has a monopoly on them.]

Of course. Is this your first time trying?

[Dear god, he'll never get how one child can make a mess like this. Dimitri's just going to linger in the doorway, debating whether or not he should finish the line of logic that brought him here. The cake mix coukd end up going horribly wrong, and someone would have to clean this mess up eventually...]

[A low whine escaped him. She had no obvious sense of direction in terms of what she was doing.]

[It takes practice. Plenty of practice. Except, this hadn't been intentional. And she was planning on cleaning everything up, she's good about that.]

[At his whine though, Sunny turned around to look and felt her ears get hot in embarrassment.]

It w-was an a-accident.

I'm sure it was. [He tilted his head slightly to one side.] Fairly impressive, actually. That you managed to do this all on your own.

[He took a few steps inside, eying the ingredients she had scattered around.]

Chocolate, huh?

I th-think I t-turned the mixer on t-to high.

[She giggles and nods.]

Ch-chocolate is my f-favorite.
