Personality:
At fist glance, Akihiko is the aloof, suave leader of the boxing team whom all the girls at school fawn over. He seems like the kind of guy that knows he's cool and uses it to his advantage-- ignoring his admirers and treating the world like one giant training regimen. However, this couldn't be further from the truth; in reality, he's blinded from most things in his life by his obsession with becoming stronger. He understands the importance of good grades and a good reputation, but really he's just going through the motions. Akihiko's main impetus in the game is to train himself at whatever the cost, preparing so that he'll never be as weak or powerless as he was when the orphanage in which he lived burned down, killing his sister while he could do nothing to save her. He's lived his life with this ideal and it's stood above all other things, meaning that certain other parts of his existence have become impaired-- namely, his social prowess.
Obviously, Akihiko is attractive, intelligent, and strong. So it's only natural that he would garner interest from the fairer sex. To them, he's standoffish and indifferent, but not because he realises that they want something romantic from him. On the contrary, he seems (and is!) totally oblivious to girls and their affections. He just doesn't get them. However, it isn't entirely impossible for him to understand romantic emotions; when he does, he becomes really, really awkward and embarrassed, quite the opposite of his cool, down-to-business exterior. But this social awkwardness isn't just present when he's interacting with girls. He doesn't really have the same concept of fun that a normal high school boy does. If someone asked him what he'd like to do for fun, he'd probably invite you out for a heavy training session or to the meat bowl (which is his favourite restaurant by far), and he doesn't seem to understand that "hanging out" doesn't mean "going for a jog together back to the dorm". This kind of behaviour is probably what earns him few friends outside of the SEES and the various organisations he's apart of (see: the boxing team), but it doesn't mean that he's unlikeable as a person.
In fact, Akihiko makes a great senpai to the younger members of SEES. He encourages them to try their hardest and keep up their training, but is sensitive to the rest they need and is careful to remind them of their health. He's a good guy down to the core: caring, responsible, and determined. If he takes a liking to you, he'll protect you with all he's got, even at the expense of his own life. After all, he doesn't want another loved one to get hurt because of his weakness.
One of the biggest transformations Akihiko undergoes in the game occurs after Shinjiro's death. A few days after, he visits his friend's memorial, confessing that his obsession with power blinded him and that's what caused him to be unable to save Shinji. It's here that he awakens to his new persona, Caesar, and casts off the guilt of his sister's death, claiming that he has "things left to do". Shinji, of course, is and was a huge impact on Akihiko's life, from the time of SEES' first three recruits to his death. Akihiko was there when Shinji's persona lost control and killed an innocent woman. The guilt of murder caused Shinjiro to leave the group permanently, and SEES remained broken until more persona-users were discovered at Gekkoukan High. Once the group began to come together again, Akihiko sought out his old friend and attempted to persuade him back onto the team, claiming that he needed to leave the past behind (though this is sort of a hypocritical statement coming from Akihiko, whose life was shaped by the past).
Another affect on his life would have to be first member of the original SEES, Mitsuru Kirijo, who was the one to recruit him using an evoker as bait. The three of them were (and are) quite close, Mitsuru and Shinji being his closest and perhaps only friends, before the main character's arrival. After the SEES grew in numbers, Akihiko grew close to each and every one of them, showing that-- though a serious person-- he has the ability to interact in a friendly setting. One could even say that the new SEES opened him up a little bit more.
Essentially, Akihiko is a person shaped by his experiences, and has learned from the relationships he's forged over time. He's a pretty serious guy a lot of the time, determined and hardworking, but that's not all he is. He is someone to be looked up to, a leader when he must be but also recognises when he must take a subordinate role, and a steadfast friend. Akihiko would be the guy you'd keep around for advice-- just remember not to go to him when you're having girl trouble.
Strengths/Weaknesses:
+ physical strength: he's not supernaturally strong, but he's at the top of his game physically due to his ridiculous amounts of training.
+ determination and strength of will. he won't back down from a challenge, no matter how silly. (see: operation babe hunt)
+ bravery and loyalty: if he's friends with you, he'll stick by you to the end, no matter the odds. he even claims that he'll "look death in the eye" and fight to keep his memories.
- social awkwardness: he is a hopeless derp when it comes to girls.
- blinded by his obsession with strength: this isn't so much of a problem after shinji's death, but it's important to note.
- determination: this is a weakness as much as it is a strength. he won't back down from anything or any challenge, even if it's life-threatening. this can be a detriment to his health.
- protecting his friends: his greatest fear is failing to do so.

[ there's a rattling around with the device, and the video comes on prematurely. however, akihiko obviously thinks it's still off, because he begins murmuring to himself. ]
... Pokemon, huh? I think I remember that game coming out a long time ago. I never played it myself, but I guess just knowing about it's a start-- [ finally, he begins speaking as though to the network. ]
Hey, is anyone getting this? Mitsuru? Yamagishi?
[ ... agitated sigh. someone is worried about what's happening back home. ] I really don't have the time for something like this.
Third Person Sample:
The first thing he found in his pack was a Pokeball. Its cool, metal exterior brushed against his fingers before anything else and, intrigued, he took it in his hand for examination. It was unremarkable in appearance, really; in fact, the only thing that really caught his eye was the small button right in the centre of its face. Would it be dangerous to simply press strange buttons without caution? Decidedly so. But Akihiko didn't feel threatened by this world-- not unduly. He recognised the word "Pokemon" from the television show and video game series. He was even sure, should he find him here, that Junpei could tell him about this place in detail. It seemed like a picture right out of the game itself, though he'd never played it. Curious, to be sure, and there were so many things that begged to be discovered.
Starting with the contents of the ball in his hand. So he pressed the button.
In a flash of light, there appeared a small figure. It was humanoid in form but obviously not human, and wore a pair of boxing gloves. The Pokemon made eye contact with Akihiko after taking a good look at its surroundings and smiled (or, at least, that's what it looked like it was doing), making a "Ty!" of approval.
"So you're a Pokemon," Akihiko managed, looking it over. "I guess it could be worse." A smile. "Well, let's see what you can do."
The Tyrogue seemed to understand, and aimed a few punches at the air to display its capabilities. His trainer appeared to be impressed.
"Heh, great," he said. "Without my Persona, you're gonna come in pretty handy. We can only rely on our own strength here, you got that?" Tyrogue made a sound of commitment, thrusting a fist in the air triumphantly.
"Alright, let's get going."
