I haven't posted in a long while... But new Sherlock's out, and while detailed "reviews" (or "observations on Benedict Cumberbatch's beauty") will have to wait 'til Friday, I decided to post this song.
As anyone who's ever spoken to me for more than one minute knows, I love Sherlock Holmes - I've actually been in love with this man since I was 5 years old :). There is one song that, for me, encapsulates the whole fascination, mystery and sadness of the original stories - it's from the movie Charade (originally from a Schubert string quartet):

Imagine my surprise, joy and, to be honest, astonishment when I first watched Scandal in Belgravia (at the BFI, no less, haha!) and Irene's theme came on - this wonderfully melancholic, dreamy melody - and I realized that it's actually the same song! The chord progression is almost exactly the same, and the theme is just a little bit different. I'd love to speak to the composer about this :)!
This may sound very silly, but to me this really meant a lot, in a way. The updated Sherlock has been so perfect in catching these little moments, nuances of characterization and mood, that I (very personally and subjectively, I thought) adored in the Canon - I feel they've "got it" the same way I did - which makes me incredibly happy :).
Can't wait for Sunday, by the way!!
