It's just too early.... did anyone expect it to be so close? IN JULY?

This shocked me. I remember, when the HBP release date was announced I was jumping around for joy. But this is way too, I don't know, aprupt?

I really have to start working on my predictions. For the last time :(.

Initially, I expected 07/07/07...but when the OotP movie was announced for July, I thought it'd be a winter release at the earliest...especially since JKR never said she finished the book. That tricksy whore! (I say that with love)

I would have bet on the 7th as well if it was published in July... but, same as you, with the movie coming up I didn't expect anything before November.
There will be very mixed emotions with this book - of course I'm looking forward to it, but I will try to read it VERY SLOWLY.

Really? I'm going to read as fast as possible in the hopes of reading all the bits that would warrant an "OMG can you believe...?!?" Before I get texts about them :P I'll also be at a weekend-long reading party, so I'll want to keep up.

With HBP, I tried to drag it out to 5 days (I've been looking forward to this book so much, it can't be over!), and I managed to read it in 3 days. It was hard :).
But, the bad thing about this was, of course, that everybody was finished quicker than me and even if I didn't get spoiled I got some "I cried so hard when X died" and "Please read faster, I need someone to talk to!!!" messages.
And I joined amanuensis' chapter-by-chapter reading which was great for the first chapters, only I was pretty alone later on.

I guess I'll have to decide if I want "longer lasting reading fun" or participation with others.

Btw, you were spoiled for HBP if I remember correctly? I tried to avoid everything spoilery, but Mugglenet formums got me (some idiot posted, one day before release date, a post with the TITLE (you couldn't overread it): "Snape kills Dumbledore! It's true!". I was so angry!)
