50 New Dishes in 2008

Last year was the first time I managed to make it to 50 recipes for the year. In 2006, I fell just short of the goal. Last year, I included a few 'fluff' recipes to make it to 50 but I figured close enough. Oh but this year...this year I intend to make it through all 50 with true recipes ( Read more... )

yikes. you'll have no problem with 50 for the year. Yours looks more like 50 recipes for each quarter. How was the flourless chocolate torte? I think I need to try making that some time. And carrot fries? what was that?

The flourless chocolate torte wasn't bad. I've made a few other recipes, and I know this particular recipe would've come out better if I'd pulled it from the oven a few minutes earlier, especially since I served it the next day. The carrot fries are tasty--just carrots that are peeled (though some would argue this was optional) and cut into "fry shapes," then tossed with olive oil and seasoning, and baked at 350 for about 40 minutes, stirring/flipping halfway through. I've tried the recipe with other root veggies and winter squash, but so far, the carrot fries have been my favorite.

Roasting veggies, especially winter veggies, makes me really happy. =)

You know I tried in 2006 and didn't make it. I just don't have the time to cook every day since I leave at 5:15 every morning and don't get home until nearly 4:30. By that time, I'm worn out and can't face cooking.

Good luck! You have a good start with some tasty-sounding dishes already. :D

yeah...and then on the weekends you have other things to do and don't want to spend it revolving around cooking. Back when I started getting into cooking, one day of the weekend was often taken up by this routine: Wake up, grab a bunch of cookbooks to bed and paw through them with Michael. Pick a recipe, go to the grocery store to get the ingredients, then come home and cook it. It was easier to get through new recipes when I had Michael to cook with. Ah well...
