Music and Writing

I’m just wondering, as I’m sitting here listening to Florence and the Machine, who here listens to music as they write? Do they find it calming or annoying? Distracting or helpful background noise that drowns out the rest of the world so you can concentrate on that story?

Myself, I enjoy listening to music constantly. There are so many good bands

I do, on occasion. I go back and forth between listening to music and having something playing on Netflix. The problem with music, though, is that I usually end up singing along, and that does interrupt my writing. When I have something playing on Netflix, it is always something I've seen before, and it serves mostly as background noise.

see, I would do Netflix, but my internet at home is ridiculously slow. I'm likely just going to be doing the DVD thing, and play something on tv when I write if I get to that stage. But, yeah, I see your issue with music. Sometimes the song is too good to resist singing along to!
