today marks the 231st anniversary of the americans claiming their independence from mother britain
(however i dont feel i can celebrate properly because i really do prefer the brits...just call me benedict arnold).

all the disney movies that the article mentioned pitted females against the female lead role; snow white vs. the evil queen, cinderella vs. evil step-mother, and ariel vs. ursula. however, there is something to be said the films transcending gender, but still it would be great to have a lead female role that saves herself instead of waiting for prince charming. we should write to pixar.
