Death by Darjeeling is the first book in the Tea Shop Mysteries series by Laura Child. The series was recommended to me by my future mother-in-law, as I love both tea and mysteries. The main character is an ex-marketing guru who now owns a tea shop in historic downtown Charleston, South Carolina. When a murder happens right under her nose, and her tea is suspect, she decides to get to the bottom of things.
The book was not a great work of fiction by any means, but it was a fun read, and I enjoyed it. The mystery was predictable - I knew who did it practically from the start, though not due to any obvious evidence. The plot was simple, yet interesting, and the main characters were likable and endearing. I also highly enjoyed all of the tea references and discussions. I plan on picking up the next book in the series at some point, though I have a short stack demanding attention first.
