This post has been a week overdue.. never found the time to pen down my thoughts about the finale to the HP series. (If I had, this post would have been twice as long :D
( Read more... )
WOW! you really finished it when it is still fresh? That too when you are busy with everything else happening around you!! Good - but i did not read your review as i haven't read the book yet:-(
Why did Harry promise to return the sword to the goblin instead of requesting to hold on to it till he finished his work with it?
He hoped to double cross the goblin at least at that moment... The goblin was just much more greedy :P
How did Neville catch hold of the sword in the end?
Dumbeldore had said in book 2 that the sword appears to a true Griffndor at the time of his deepest need... Thats why Neville got it.
I thought more members of the Order of phoenix had the invisible cloak?
Not sure of this... I think they used Harry's cloak in book 5
Who was the repulsive baby-like creature at King's cross? was it Grindelwald?
That was Voldermort! It was the final horcrux that was within Harry... Harry had a choice of carrying on and killing himself and Voldermort but decided to come back and fight him
why didn't Harry think of using the Deathly Hallows(to defeat death) when he already possessed two of the three? In fact, it wasn't considered as an option at allHe did!!! Thats how he got the choice of coming back... He possesed

He hoped to double cross the goblin at least at that moment... The goblin was just much more greedy :P Yeah, but instead of taking that risk, he could have explained that he needed the sword for a little while longer and it was needed to defeat Voldemort. After all the goblin decided to help Harry in the first place only because he was interested in up-throwing Voldemort.
He did!!! Thats how he got the choice of coming back... He possesed the 3 Hallows when Voldermort killed him. He already had the elder wand(after beating Draco) and the cloak(from papa potter). The only missing one was the stone and he got that just moments before he faced Voldermort! Oh ok.. I didn't realise that the wand already belonged to him at that point!!

Maybe Harry thought he could not reason with a goblin :D
How did Neville catch hold of the sword in the end?
"Help will always be given at Hogwarts to those who ask for it" is what Dumbledore had once said to harry, and that is how Harry got the Sword from the Hat, when he wore it and asked for help.
This time again Neville got it from the sword when he stood loyal to Hogwarts and Dumbledore and asked for help!
I thought more members of the Order of phoenix had the invisible cloak?
As Mr.LoveGood says there are many other cloaks with Disillusionment Charm or Bedazzling Hex, "which will hide one initially but fade with the years until it turns opaque.", But Harry cloak was a genuine one!

It was the Voldemort that within him as Haas says.

It was not the Hallows that saved but his mother's enchantment! I thought so too.. then, if that was the case, the deathly hallows were never put to test right?
