So! School really hasn't been so bad. Yeah, okay, so maybe I was dozing off just a little, but you can't hold it against me, right? I've gotta catch fish and zees (zzz) in between studying. Right?? Have a heart, teachers! It's not like I'm trying to suck.

So what if I got a D on that pop quiz? I'm still passing! At least I show up every day and ( Read more... )

Yeah, that's the one!

Pretty hard to believe everyone would be all depressed like that. Actually, I don't believe it! Sure, there are some pretty emotional guys hanging around, all serious and lost in their thoughts, but there are lots of fun people here too who seem to be enjoying themselves!

Well thanks! "Face forward and stay positive", that's the best way to look at it!

Huh. Maybe. I never thought of it that way before. It sure has gotten a lot of us stirred up. They could take the opportunity to launch a surprise attack on us while we're distracted. Those jerks!

You're right. It does seem like an lot of trouble to do something like that when everybody's getting one of those notes anyway. It does hide the identity of whoever handed them out, but at the same time it had to be a lot of work.

It is strange, that the journal excerpts talked of people despairing. I haven't talked to anybody yet who doesn't want to remember what they've forgotten.

...And you got a D on that quiz? Wow, I feel a little better now. I got lucky and managed a B- on it.

Huh.
Who knows? Maybe they thought they'd get in trouble if people knew it was them. It's just kinda weird if you ask me. Not that the whole island isn't. And you're right. Ignoring a couple drama kings, most of the people I talk to seem pretty determined to find out more about who they are. They're excited, even.

...
....

Hey Emil, you know what? I just got a great idea! Why don't you and I be study buddies? Team Lloyd could sure use someone smart, and besides...! Um, well...

[Pause to think up a bribe.]

...I know! If you help me out with schoolwork, I could teach you a thing or two about swordsmanship! What do you say?

[Say no. Save yourself!]

I know I want to know who I am again. Even if I were to learn something unfortunate...yes. I would rather live with that knowledge rather than go unaware for the rest of my life. It would be wrong to--

Wait a minute, but I'm not that smart! I mean, I got lucky on that quiz! I'm not really that good!

...Still, I'd like to learn how to use the sword I have. Could you really teach me?

Yeah, I feel the same. I want to remember every minute and every person I met along the way.

Hey, come on, it's still better than a D, and besides, it's above average! Heck, I think if I could stick around the C level, the teachers would be really impressed. What you need is a little more confidence.

Oy! You have a sword too? That's even better!
I could give it a try. I've never actually taught anyone before, but I still have the books I bought. And I have remembered a thing or two about it. So sure!

[We thought we told you to run. Oh well, now it's too late.]

I saw it... and I don't buy it! No way would I "despair"! And I don't think that everyone who is here has either!

I got that note, too! I wonder what it's about...

You "gave up"? And they didn't come after you?
How'd you manage that?! You've gotta let me in on the secret!

Hmm... dunno really. Seemed pretty serious.

I just never went, that's all.

Yeah... I know it's talking about how Memento Eden started out or something, but that's about it.

..............

Why didn't I think of that? It's not like Professor Klarth could have forced me to go if I hadn't agreed to it! I should have come up with an excuse!

Yeah, and some stuff about the mayor. Actually, I kinda wonder if those twins are still around. It might be cool to meet them.
