I'm now back in crochet mode mainly because Sproglet used all my 'fluffy' blankets/throws for Christmas presents! I did have quite a nice collection but they've all gone! Unfortunately, the yarn makers are reducing the colour range that used to be available so sooner or later they'll stop making that sort of yarn altogether and then when my stash

Why do they get rid of nice products? Are there any alternatives?

It's following fashion I imagine. That fluffy headband you had was nylon and stretched so it was ideal for clothing items but not suitable for blankets in the style I make them. The blankets mix acrylic yarns with polyester and work well together and are easily washed and they don't stretch! There are other fluffy wools out there but it really does depend on the amount of 'fluff' in the yarn as it were. Some maker produce a product so thick it's hard to crochet with whereas others don't make the product thick enough.
