Myra is mostly seen as an adjunct to her husband-understandably, given that we basically never see her. What is their marriage like? What is her take on her husband's job and his partner?

"You tell him be here at 8 o'clock, or we'll show up there and bring dinner along."

"Myra, honey, I can't do that. Nick has a right to privacy."

"And I have a right to know just who my husband is trusting his life to," Myra said a bit testily, and she glared at Schanke.

He loved his wife, but he knew she had a whim of iron - how else to explain going whale-watching! How was he going to explain this to Nick? Maybe Nick'd come over just to placate Myra; he was a nice guy; he'd understand; wouldn't he?

Yes, indeed. We've always known who calls the shots at the Schanke household!

Your phrase "whim of iron" is a sparklingly evocative twist on the customary phrase "will of iron." Inspired coinage! Thank you for sharing.

Oh, thank you. But to give credit to where it is due, I first heard the phrase in relation to British Prime Minister, Margaret Thatcher. But it is appropriate to Myra, isn't it? :-)

"And I have a right to know just who my husband is trusting his life to

That's a reasonable request. I'd love to see this continue.

That's fantastic; Myra insisting on meeting her husband's new partner...really nice work with the prompt, and in general. I'm very much enjoying these.
