Yeah, kel said it best: "Well, being in the top 10% makes me feel an odd combination of comfort and severe guilt. I get paid today, ironically enough, so I'll make some donations. Not to assuage the guilt, mind you, I think as American's that guilt is our appropriate life-long burden in exchange for the opportunity to BE in the top 10% with relatively little effort."
Sometimes I sit around my house and marvel at all the riches I see that Kings and Emperors couldn't even dream of. Just take a minute and _really_ think about your cell phone. It's Freaking Science Fiction!
They say that in the U.S., even people who are considered "poor" (lowest 1/5 of income) aren't really having all that bad of a time of it. That person in front you using food stamps to get their groceries probably drove there in there own car, has a cell phone, cable tv, air conditioning, and more living space than the average European middle-class worker.
