[there being no proper address on the incoming letter, Watanuki simply marked it "Abantiare" before sending it off, hopefully to find the moron who sent it. It is handwritten; strikes are legible with some effort and a lot of squinting.]

To begin with, “it’s me” is not an appropriate way to begin a letter. I don’t know why you think I would recognize your handwriting, but it’s very lucky I didn’t think it had been misaddressed and just throw it away. In fact, you’re very lucky I didn’t just throw it away anyway
But, now that you’ve had your say, I would just like to let you know: No, I have not forgotten my part of the promise. I hope that by the time this letter reaches you you haven’t broken your end of it. I assume it’s dangerous where you are, you wouldn’t leave for somewhere safe like a normal person.
I’m Everyone’s glad to hear you’re not dead, though. And that you’re sorry. And that you’ve found out how to control that thing. I don’t see why you couldn’t have explained all this to me the kids before, but it’s nice to know you’re still alive and well. If nothing else.
