The Grand Adventures of Watanuki, logbook entry 055 [voice]

Jan 13, 2011 20:10

[filtered to the Convoy, shortly before their arrival in Licere]Good afternoon. I'm sorry for the late introduction-- my name is Kimihiro Watanuki, and I recently signed on as a cook on this ship. I've been acquainting myself with the kitchens for the past few days-- I'm sorry for having missed so many introductions ( Read more... )

But, but what about those of us who keep irregular hours?!

What does "irregular" mean?

Whenever I feel like it?

No! That's exactly what I'm trying to prevent! If people walk in and out at all hours taking whatever they want, it just makes everything that much more difficult for the cooks! Supplies don't just spring from the ether, you know!

Er... hello.

It's a pleasure to meet you. Have we been introduced...?

.....Likewise.

No, I don't think we have. I'm Sabaku Gaara, the Convoy's powder monkey.

You know, that's not really fair to the rest of the ship. What about people in training? They may need an extra boost of energy in between meals.

Then... then they can discuss it with me and ask for permission! But people shouldn't just be walking in and out of the kitchen at all hours!

I do agree that it can cause a lot of trouble for the cooks - heck, it's caused a lot of trouble for all of us before - but there's a better way to do this than to kick everybody out. I know it can be hard since you're not used to the ship yet, but maybe you should see how the other cooks do things first.

DAMN YOUR REASON :< flailingbento January 17 2011, 21:51:18 UTC
...Well. It might be a temporary measure. Depending, of course, on the greediness of the crew. And the nature of the ship's inventory.

But until that's decided, the rule stands!

Hello. I'm Justin Walker. I deal with the ship's records, so let me know if you need any supply information or such.

Ah- thank you for the policy clarification. I will make sure to buy any snacks on my own from now on. Is using the kitchen for making tea or coffee during the off hours acceptable if I bring my own supplies?

it's very important okay :< flailingbento January 17 2011, 21:54:06 UTC
It's a pleasure to meet you. If you have a recent inventory, I'd be very grateful if I could see it sometime-- the sooner I understand how this kitchen is organized, the better.

And yes, hot water is always available.

At least Justin won't argue. Unlike everyone else, apparently. XD scaredbrilliant January 17 2011, 22:30:27 UTC
A pleasure to meet you as well.

The inventory's fairly recent. Feel free to come by the records room any time to take a look. I'm usually there.

That's good to know.

[Logically speaking, if Watanuki's main problem with between-meal snacking is that it makes it harder for him to tell how much people will eat at mealtimes, he should take issue with people buying their own snacks too, but Justin isn't going to point that out... >.> ]

Thank you very much!

I hope buying your own things isn't too much of an inconvenience. I hope this only has to be a temporary measure-- I have yet to find a system that keeps people from taking whatever they want whenever they want it, though.

[W-well, it's more about knowing exactly how much of everything he has at every single moment-- even if the crew doesn't finish all of a meal, at least he knows how much went into making it, and their waste is another issue entirely. NOODLE IS JUST A CONTROL FREAK.]
