(Almost) Puppy Free Hugo

Just saw the Hugo short list published and though I did not follow the puppy drama of the year too closely it looks like there is mostly real stuff on the ballot this year (just one puppy nom per category).

Is this a consequence of EPH or is the stupid puppy thing finally dying?

Ah, i read up on it, so Beale had one nom per category this year...and ( Read more... )

I'm not sure how diligent the Puppies were this year -- I've been too busy follwing real politics to keep up with fannish politics. It could be that having all their wet dreams come true in the real world made them slack off on the SF awards front, but I bet that EPH has a lot to do with controlling them, if only because they know that having it in place means their old tactics won't work anymore.

As far as I have heard now, the Sads made a normal rec list, which was fine with everyone but didn't have any impact.

Beale aimed for one slot per category, which he mostly got with about 90 votes. Considering that they have no chance in the run off, it is doubtful how many will bother to pay to end up beneath no award.

I tend to think the puppies are mostly Hugo history.

It would be interesting to know how their internal victim narratives hold up now that they've got their guy in the Whitehouse.

Their followers don't really question their lies. Btw are you on DW? I want to move all my traffic there, where possible?

I believe I'm on DW. When LJ was bought by the RUssians I think I createda mirror and backed up, but it was years ago, and I haven't touched it since. So heaven knows what my username and password were.

I might have to look at doing this again soon, it seems a lot of you are off over this one.
