'In a later interview with Clash magazine, he attributed the section “Your boyfriend’s name was Dave / I was bold and brave / and now you're mine” to Barat.'

i don't understand how they're so open about things, but no one really says anything.

This is my question every. single. day. "A Little Death Around The Eyes" is credited as Doherty/Barat, which thrills me - those are lines Carl wrote for something ages ago and the title is something he got off Carl's sister. What really gets me is the You're My Waterloo/New Love Grows On Trees reference.

I just want to know why every press writer in the world can hear "I'm still in love with you" in Can't Stand Me Now, their most famous song, which they say is about them, and not one writer asks 'isn't that a bit suss?'

I KNOW. it makes no sense. it's screamingly obvious and anyone who knows anything knows about it, but yeah, even if you were a reporter, who had no previous knowledge I'm sure could pick up on it. I'm just like, "COME ON." I kind of love it though how they're so brilliantly casual about it, but not at all ever coming off as insincere.

What I love is how even when they DO say something about it, like when Peter was all "I love him, wouldn't go into too much detail on Radio 1 but we've had lots of ~wonderful times together~" or whatever - noone continues to push/ask further. Whether it's by going off something like them saying that, or asking about specific song lyrics/references/behaviours/things that a bunch of other people have said. COME ON, JOURNALISTS, DO BETTER.
