You have to give him kudos for his conviction. He knew what he wanted, and was willing to do what he had to do to get it. A life's theme in the making.

The Pearl is his passion, no doubts about that. He gave his soul. What more proof does one need?

Albeit brief, you've captured so much of the power of the moment, the resolve and the victory.

Well done!

i agree. jack sacrificed everything for the rebirth of the pearl and he knew (had to) what was in store for him. he was willing to take it though, even if the bargain was a mad one.

thank you so much. i'm really, really trying to brush up on my jack writing. i adore his character so much.

Though they've not admitted it, I suspect T&T chose the name 'Black Pearl' in reference to that Bibical parable in Matthew:

'Again, the Kingdom of Heaven is like unto a merchant man, seeking goodly pearls, who, when he had found one pearl of great price, went and sold all that he had, and bought it.'

in all my time being a fan of this series, i would never have even thought of that. great eye and it makes a lot more sense, really. the pearl is his heaven, even with all the hell he goes through trying to obtain it.

I like this. I like him saying "Alive" to Jones. There is something wonderfully tough and resolved about Jack as you've written him in this moment. Love the lone rum bottle, nice touch with that.
