Books, plz.

I need books to distract me from the fact that A Dance With Dragons will not be out until September 30th.

So! I need help from you, dear friends! What are your favorite books? What are some that I absolutely must read? I just need a direction to go in because I'm lost reading wise.

I'll read anything, really! I'm just craving something good. ( Read more... )

Neverwhere by Neil Gaiman (the first book of his and I loved it)
American Gods by Neil Gaiman
Dracula (hell you may never have read it and its god damn good)
Wyrd Sisters - Terry Pratchet (basically picture the 3 witched from macbeth but they go on wacky adventures)
A Dirty Job - Chrisopher Moore (this guy becomes a grim reaper but must balnace that and being a single father its very funny)
Sherlock Holmes - Sir Author Cohene Doyle nothing like the classics
Guards Guards - Ken Bruen (A story about an Irish Detective and stuggiling with his many vices, the author is also Irish and he writes in such a refreshing way and its just a fun mystery)

Hope these help!

"The Pirate Hunter" by Richard Zacks. It's the biography of Captain Kidd about how he goes from a privateer to a pirate.
Also, in case you've never read it, The Hobbit. One of me favorites.

Oooh, I can help with this! :D

The Blind Assassin by Margaret Atwood
Cordelia's Honor by Lois McMaster Bujold -- WARNING: This is part of a REALLY long (and addicting) space opera. This crack might steal your entire summer.
The Onion Girl by Charles de Lint
Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep? by Philip K. Dick
The Man in the High Castle by Philip K. Dick
The Eyre Affair by Jasper Fforde
The Moon is a Harsh Mistress by Robert A. Heinlein
Dune by Frank Herbert
anything by Particia A. McKillip
anything by Yukio Mishima
Lolita by Vladimir Nabokov
Snow Crash by Neal Stephenson
The Book of the New Sun by Gene Wolfe -- It's really 4 books, though I think all the recent publications have combined them into 2 books.

Howl's Moving Castle by Dianna Wynne Jones.

If you've seen Hayao Miyazaki's animation of it, don't expect that. The movie and the book are practically two different plots with a few similarities. :)

Aww I love the movie! I'll definitely check it out despite the differences. :)

I loved the movie, too (Howl = love). But when I read the book, it was AMAZING!
