While we all know looking like a rocker is meant to be a cool thing, and most bands and singers can look really, really great--you cannot presume that if you are in a band, you can get away with anything.

Especially if you are no longer 18 to 21 years old.

ZZ Top are about the only old rockers who I think really managed to pull that off....the Stones and Aerosmith seem to have aged somewhat well I guess, but they were sleazy to begin with so nothing has really changed.

women singers....somewhere in the back of my head there are a couple who have pulled it off, but I don't know that they are necessarily rock. Tracy Chapman for one. Never seen her try to do the sexy, she just plays and sings, its all music for her. I so despise modern pop I couldn't even name an artist if I tried....bleh. most of the 80's bunch did sexify way to hard, I think that's where MTV did a bit of disservice to the music industry. Some of the really old school gals had it right though, Aretha Franklin :D

I know I saw some video of Vince Neil of...crap, what was his band..it wasn't music, it was a ghost hunting show and they were trying to contact the ghost of damn it, my memory is for crap...famous vegas guy, one of the rat pack...anyway, neil was skeevy as hell.

Yeah, but ZZ Top never wore spandex, never tried to be sexy pretty bois, and they've always dressed appropriately for both their ages and where they live; they pass the "authentic self" test! *laughs

I can't say I argue with any of that really...another female rocker that was rolling around in the back of my head was Melissa Etheridge...I've not seen a lot of her videos, but the few I have she just performed, it was the music and not all the prima donna bullshit.
