Character: Robin Sena
Series: Witch Hunter Robin
Background:
Robin is a "craft user", a secret trainee of The Catholic Church in Italy that uses her craft (fire) to hunt down witches. A 15 year old witch, she was raised in a convent before working for the STN-J. The STN-J were however working on a liquid called Orbo capable of deactivating a witch's craft at the cost of weakening the user.
With the rest of the STN-J, Robin finds out that the Orbo is made out of the essence of the witches. Because the Orbo was created the block a witch's power, it weakens other witches who use it, causing the other hunters (who are all seeds) to either never realize their powers or eventually lose their powers over time. Robin refuses to use the Orbo because of how it effects her. Orbo cannot be used by normal humans, as it causes a severe reaction. STN is working on a new version of Orbo to eliminate the need of using seeds in their hunts, and human witch hunters need to wear heavy protective gear to guard against the effects of even the newer Orbo.
Robin was originally supposed to retrieve an item, called the Fragment of Wisdom, that would enhance a witch's powers to the brink of being unstoppable, merely working as an STN-J subordinate as a cover. At first, she seemed rather weak as she didn't maintain too much control over her pyrokinetic powers. She also was somewhat distant from the other characters. However, during her time with the STN-J, she becomes more and more powerful thanks to not using the Orbo, eventually becoming the STN-J's top target. It is discovered that Robin is in fact a "Designer Witch", a Witch created with genetic engineering on "Project Robin".
Robin was designed by the STN to be the "perfect witch". Carried by Father Juliano's daughter, Maria, the project succeeded to produce a little girl. Father Juliano was told to kill the child, but he could not bring himself to do so. Robin was sent to live in a convent in Italy, where she resided until the STN-J brought her back to Japan.
Having been raised by nuns from Italy, she has many of their habits, from the compulsive urge to clean whatever's handy to a fondness for good espresso. Robin has struggled with her faith since joining the STN-J, but eventually reconciles with it as she discovers more about herself.
Robin has pyrokinetic abilities that allow her to manifest varying amounts of fire. In addition, she can channel her energy into shields capable of blocking both solid matter and "crafts", or magical powers, from other craft-users like herself. However, any use of her power causes her eyesight to weaken-which in turn greatly reduces the accuracy and effectiveness of her pyrokinesis. This problem is easily solved by wearing glasses, but Robin doesn't like to use them, especially at first.
Though good-natured, Robin has employed her gift to the point of lethal force when necessary to either save someone's life or for the good of others.
Story: (spoiler alert)
As the factory came down around them, the small group of the STN-J had to move quickly to get out before they became trapped. When the head count was finished, Robin and Amon were missing.
Knowing she would be trapped, Robin used her powers to try and keep a shield around herself long enough that she wouldn't be crushed. Eventually, she tired beyond her abilities, and fell unconscious. When she awoke, she was in the desert.
