Through Sickness and Health, eventual recuperations, and then some...

It's that time of year again. The time when millions of troublesome germs decide they can't stand the cold anymore and decide to invade our lungs instead. To be honest, I didn't want anything for my birthday this year, least of all a week-long, uninvited, respiratory guest. It tends rather to ruin the mood. On the positive side, I did purchase ( Read more... )

I enjoyed the Anansi Boys quite a bit, though I was hoping for more American Gods. If you aren't aware, Neil did a short story involving Shadow for the Legends II compilation.

Regarding the rest of your post, I think it's important to do what feels right to you. I too dislike the way most people are judged, whether by appearances, "accomplishments", and/or paychecks. My greatest gripe is how knowledge is not valued at all, just the slip of paper showing that you jumped through hoops.

"Let the beauty you love be what you do. There are hundreds of ways to kneel and kiss the ground." -Rumi

I think that may be paraphrased but I've sung it as a chant and I find I have to frequently remind myself of it. There is definetley more to life than what your job is or how much your paycheck is. I wish more people realized that.

I just picked up Anansi Boys, I plan to dive in as soon as I finish the book I'm currently reading. Hopefully it won't interfeare with NaNoWriMo too much LOL

Anansi Boys was a rather quick read for me. Personally, I didn't want to put it down, especially as it was a nice reprieve from my own emotions as of late. Anansi stories are good for that. :)

You know, if we stopping giving a damn about your "inability to conquer my own personal demons," we wouldn't read it. Yet here we are.
You're writing a book? What about?

Which is why I'm so very thankful for those that care. :) The eventual book I will be writing will be an extension of the "Treatise on Love" I had started a little under a year ago. I am compiling many of the strange truths regarding the subject from everyday interactions even to online dating. Pretty much a "what people do and why". The project began as a blog-type rant but then extended to become something of a commentary on self-help book. At the moment, my current inclination is to make it a work of fiction instead. Eventually, I'll just have a bunch of data, and then it'll choose what it really wants to be when it grows up. :)

Fail? No... I've known you only to be honest, determined to enjoy life, even with it's roller coaster rides, and to not throw in the towel because things didn't work right immediately. At work, we constantly talk about 'immediate gratification isn't fast enough'... some people want things right now and refuse to believe that it can be good to be slow just a bit. I know you are not one of those people... perhaps a moment or two now and then, but who of us isn't ( ... )
