When Emotion has its day...or weekend

Nov 14, 2005 01:45

This weekend, at least three other people on my friends list plus myself seem to have experienced some sort of emotional relapse or enough to post about it. Emotions are strange. We do not ask for them. We cannot just miraculously turn them off. They take over our thoughts when we would rather they not. Still, I find it a bit strange this ( Read more... )

I feel as you do that love doesn't die and that those who pretend that it does have some grave deficiency I can never understand--in fact, do not wish to understand ever.

...one of the reasons I adore you, you get why I "dwell" and cry at the evening news (resulting in me not watching it anymore). :/ Hope all is well (or better, anyway) with you and your friends in the emotional-toil-department.
P.S. Sorry we both live under rocks this semester and haven't gotten together for sushi/chat. :(

I know exactly how you feel. There have been many times I have thought, "ok, I'm past this hurt, I've moved on" only to have it rear up again down the road. I've learned through experience it's beter to let the feelings take me where they will, let myself feel sad for awhile, rather than try and stuff it back down and ignore it. WHen I go with it, each time is a little easier, when I ignore it the next time is that much harder.

My emotins are like the sea, I have learned to rock with the ebb and flow, when I fight the current, I drown.

With time and practice, you can put a lot of your emotions to the side,,,,, the only trick is to be able to bring yourself back out of that numb state. I've bottled so much up in my life and been so numb, that when I am able to feel things, I feel them a bit too much and have a hard time controling them. My main prob is, out of all of my emotions, anger and hate are the ones I have NEVER been able to turn off. They are always with me like an "unwanted friend",,, but I'm usre most people out there that know me see me as an angry person..... Not really a view I like poeple to have of me,,, but hey, truth hurts I guess.

Both love and hate originate from that same emotion of caring; for if we didn't care, we wouldn't have either...

How true this is... I don't try to act like it never happened myself... I couldn't. How fair is that to the other partner? I have to care. Plain and simple... I require it to live. Not just from others, but from myself... I so agree with herbiej - that's why I don't watch the news much anymore myself. I want to keep smiling and laughing... that's what helps me to keep caring. And to do otherwise would be to go against the very fabric of my nature.

May you continue to be the wonderful, caring person I know you are!
