I am wrapping up my first growing season in Illinois and it is coming to a frigid end. Truly I was surprised at my success growing flowers and vegetables because I had a very hands-off approach. I don't really buy into weeding as most weeds are native, essential for native wildlife and in my opinion much better than plain old lawn grass. However,

my tomatoes were terrible. They grew to the size of a grape, turned red, and rotted. Billy has this odd fascination with squash and wants to try growing it indoors. Eat, Yes! Grow, No!
