I'm the same way. I don't know where it comes from. Like with Jack's birth - people telling me I was crazy to do it without meds made me fight that much harder to do it without meds!

Because you are a strong, beautiful woman, and you want to prove it! Why should someone's lack of belief in you keep you from doing what you think you can? That's someone challenging you!

Don't look at it as such a bad thing. Would you have graduated from college without this mentality? Would you have become the woman that you are today without it?

Are they a) Telling you "no" to something that you asked permission for? or b) Waiving something under your nose and saying you can't have it?

If a), were you asking for something that you had the power to give yourself and were simply seeking approval? If yes, THIS is the question to explore - why you felt you needed approval. I would suggest that if you seek approval, you aren't 100% committed to whatever it was on your own, and you probably don't need it. Either that or you should strive to give yourself permission without seeking it from others.

If b), please tell us the circumstances because I don't know of anyone in your life that has that kind of power over you.
