Unfortunately, it's natural. We all go through The Blahs. Hopefully the start of school will get you back to feeling all jazzy.
GOOD LUCK TO STEVE!!! Maybe he should inquire with his doctor's office about their procedures for lodging a complaint (regarding lack of action on his episode). That will either allow him to follow through with a complaint, or prompt them to finally f'ing doing something about it.

So here's the thing about depression - you aren't necessarily sad when you are depressed. Sadness is only one symptom. For instance, when I'm depressed these days I don't feel sad. I normally just feel numb. So that is something to the think about.
I think you may be a little depressed, but it sounds situational due to an extended period of stress. Have you been exercising? Are you still seeing a counselor?
It's tough to deal with family stuff. Just make sure you are doing something good for yourself every day. This can be reading a book in the sun, laying with your hubs snuggling, sitting down to eat rather than eating on the run, etc. Give yourself time to think good thoughts.
