Okay, so for the last several years (maybe more, I don't really know for sure), I've had some issues with hoarseness after singing - Not so bad that I'd completely lose my voice, but it takes longer than it used to to come back, and now it really doesn't come back to where it used to be.  So, I finally called a vocal coach and made an appointment ( Read more... )

I had to stop singing for a year and a half after I had an adult tonsillectomy/adenoid removal and then developed complications. I developed clinical depression as a result of it, but I got through it. You will too!

I can see why that could happen - I'm not usually prone to depression, however I can totally see it happening if I have to stop singing for an extended period of time. *crosses fingers*
I'm really hoping that she's just being an alarmist, and it will turn out that I just have too much tension in my cords that has to be worked out.

*hugs you tight* First things first - find out what it is. No point stressing over it if it's stress that's causing it!

:) Thanks so much. :) And you're right, there is definitely no point in stressing over something that could be caused by stress - I hadn't actually thought of it that way, but you are SO right!
LOL @ the thought of my future valiant attempts at silence... I've started listening to talk radio in the car because otherwise I start singing along without thinking... Man, this is going to be hard.
