I really ought to be packing for the impending Atlanta move right now, but I've got the TV on in the background, and I overheard a certain commercial for the umpteenth time and just couldn't take it any more. I haven't seen this mentioned on any feminist/cultural critique-y type blogs (although I may have just missed it?), which is sort of amazing

these commercials are far too dumb for me to even consider the sexist angle. I just change the channel or pay attention to something else.

What's funny about this example however, is that eating crabs (even king crabs) isn't very sexy to begin with. It's like eating buffalo wings or ribs. No matter what you do, you're gonna have sticky stuff all over your face and grease on your shirt and maybe your eye's stinging because you tried to scratch off a sweat drop and got some old bay in there. You're not gonna look suave with ladies. You're gonna look like mommy needs to get a wet-nap and maybe let you watch Bob the Builder.

Generally in agreement... Although the sleazy quality in these commercials somehow gives me the impression that the kitchen habits would not be up to par. I'd be nervous to eat there.
