On the way to Wal-mart today, we saw a male drake in the middle of the lane. His mate had been killed and he was standing by her. That made me so sad. Do ducks mate for life? It got me to thinking how we are with our mates. I would totally be sitting there too waiting for him to wake up!

Oh no. That made me sad just reading that.

I think they do, yes, however the drake will attempt to breed with other females.

Yeah, I just thought it was so sad!!! Sometimes nature sucks! :(
