Just when I figured that it was not good being a Queen, I found a reason to rejoice in being a queen mother!
Aside from being the Queen Mother of one chapter, I also belong to another. During the winter, I am able to attend meetings and events of my Pennsylvania chapter. I helped start that one after getting the one in Maryland going. So, being winter, I have been to a couple of very nice events where I could just sit back and be a member instead of being in charge. A couple of the ladies in the Scarlet Purple Nells had gotten some very nice, permanent name tags from the BadgeLady on EBay. I had seen them in my cruising around in EBay, but had not purchased any.
They look like very nice name badges, easily read and attached with magnets so as not to damage our dresses. I finally took the hat by the feathers and called the '800' number in the EBay ad to see how to go about ordering a special name badge for myself to wear at our first meeting of the season and see if others want to get one. So, I called.
A lovely woman answered and I asked how I was to go about ordering a name badge, just for me. She asked if I was a queen and I answered that I was indeed. I told her I wanted to order a badge so I might encourage others to buy. She said... and the web site had written... that the queen could get one name badge free. I was shocked. She took my information and I expect I will see my badge soon. Nice to know there are still some perks to be had. Sure, it is good advertising for them. But with the way The Red Hat Society is expanding, they could end up giving away a lot of Name Badges.
So, today, it is Good to Be Queen.
