Late Monday night, my very close friend Rachel James was in a car accident. She was returning to Bloomington after visiting her boyfriend at Purdue when she fell asleep at the wheel, crossed the median, and hit an oncoming truck. I'm so sorry. I lost a friend last fall who was struck by a car, and a few good friends in Iraq since the war began. There's nothing so tragic as young lives cut short like that.
