Breaks for more discomfort...

Being in the NY/NJ area during this staff break at the Zen Center was a good idea for many reasons: it's easy to travel ROC->NYP by train, I'm seeing many dear friends, and it was unexpectedly good timing for my family. so i know this discovery is huge, and a bit scary, but it does seem exactly the kind of thing you went up there to find out and work on. which means that being there is GOOD.

and maybe somewhat informing in terms of how you would like your life to look after you are done? we can and will help you adjust back to the pace and magnitude of life here, hopefully retaining as much of a sense of meaningful quiet as possible. we can all use more of that i think!

re: hospitals--if the only way you experience them is when someone you love is in pain and in need, it is entirely logical to feel uncomfortable there. perhaps not desirable, but logical. all in all though, what a bizarre time of visiting! hope he is feeling better by now, and that you've had a chance to check in with the folks. nothing like a big family drama to provoke work on other family dramas...
