Surely a matter of perspective? For the students who need to do project work and labs, you are thier saviour, protecting them from the evil time wasters and pornograhpers.

Yeah, totally. But I end up being the bad-guy to everyone except the nerds.

I know what you mean, actually. I pretty much had to sack someone on monday, because we couldn't give him shifts that fit around his course. Worst thing was, it took me about twenty goes of explaining we couldn't do it to get it through to him.
If it helps, think of yourself as 'the man', rather than the 'bad guy'. actually, that probably doesn't help, does it? sorry.

If i am 'The Man', then surely they get to 'stick it to the man' and I end up the villain of the piece?

If it balances out in anyway, I told my students in a tutorial that they could ask me any question about anything to do with physiology and one girl asked me how you could go about losing weight, without the weight coming off your breasts.

I got pretty embarrased and forgot to ask them for the essays they were supposed to hand in.

So bristol students getting away with stuff, must balance out Reading students getting told off.

Heh. There is a lesson there, always qualify 'anything' whenever you use it in a phrase.

'Ask me anything to do with physiology that relates to your course'

Thing is, I'm allowed to. They are not.

I have an unrestricted account on my own dedicated computer.
The students use restricted Lab machines, which are for the whole faculty's students to do lab and practical work on.
