1. i think yesterday i came the closest i've ever been to a dead human body. when i got off the elevator at DHLRI, there was a stretcher (i think that's right...) outside the door to the morgue. there was a human shape underneath a royal blue velvety looking blanket. i'm actually surprised that this was the first time i've seen one since i've worked here a lot in the past year (and the morgue has always been there). cheery, i know!
2. while walking to work this morning i saw two things of mild interest:
a) the Mech Eng building is finished and all the sidewalks around it have opened back up. it's no longer a hassle to get to the post office!
b) mirror lake is being...worked on? it's empty and there are all sorts of bulldozers and the like hanging out around it. i suppose they're cleaning it and fixing whatever might need fixing under the water.
3. the computer monitor in this lab is going to make me kill myself. everything is really tiny on the screen and changing the settings doesn't help, and it makes the right monitor turn off. unfortunately, i need that monitor. this is total crap. how am i supposed to read webpages while the afm does it's thing?? i guess i'll have to read a book, but i've only got about half a book to finish...and that won't take me 5 hours.
4. we have a meeting today so that we can do a peer review on our papers. this annoys me, because i don't feel like reading other people's papers. here's to hoping i get a good one to read that i don't feel the need to correct.
5. in good news, jeri will be here tomorrow night through sunday afternoon. yay! so that means i'll be bringing a jeri to stu's dinner party. and then the next weekend, jeri will be coming home with me. i'm being jeri-spoiled two weekends in a row, i won't know what to do with myself!
6. more good news, i only have seven days left work here. one of those days won't be much work at all since i have the poster session and a special lunch. boy, this summer has gone by quickly and suckily. i wish that i had been able to do better. bah.
7. i need to petition a class substitution for MSE. this apparently requires a lot of work on my part. great. including getting a recent syllabus from the classes i want to sub. uh...how in the world do i do that? hopefully my advisor will be able to help me out more. i just feel that human physiology will be more applicable to my career plans than animal cellular and development something something.
8. i don't know what to have for dinner tonight. at least it's the last dinner i have to make for myself until sunday. tomorrow i have a banquet to go to for the Ohio Student Research Forum, friday is ravioli night hopefully, saturday will be fair food.
9. i can't wait to go home for an extended period of time. i miss my family and my kitties.
10. i guess i'll be done now. my eyes are already starting to shrivel up and die from trying to read the blurry tiny screen.
