Alice shuffled into the room, her stomach still churning from what she had just done, she sighed with pain as she came up to her mother, "Mum, can I talk to you for a moment?"

Donna looked down at her daughter, noticing that she did not have her usual bright smile on her face, "Of course, what is it, love?"

The young girl's eyes looked towards her dad and Ben who were busy playing with Alice's sonic screwdriver to pay them any attention, still she wanted to speak to her mum alone, "Can we go out here?" She indicated towards the hall outside the kitchen.

Donna's face scrunched up with concern as she nodded, leading her daughter out of the room, nodding to Doctor letting him know that she was going to find out what was bothering their eldest daughter.

She placed her hands on Alice's shoulders and stared into the dark brown eyes that resembled the Doctor's so much, "What's wrong, Alice?"

Alice shifted uncomfortably in her socks on the bare floor, her eyes filling with unshed tears, "I'm..." She lowered her voice, "I'm bleeding."

Donna had always known that Alice was terribly squeamish towards blood, having watched her almost faint on several occasions and once panicking out of her mind when she had watched her fall dead weight to the floor, taking almost a full five minutes to wake her up again, but she was confused as to why Alice would want to seek a more private place to tell her that she was injured, "Where did you cut yourself?" Her eyes roaming over the skin that was visible.

"No, Mum, I'm bleeding. I think I'm sick or something, I have this terrible pain in my stomach." Alice explained.

Donna nodded before fully understanding and then it hit her, "Oh!" She whispered her eyes widening, "Oh, Alice." She held back her motherly pride as her own tears shown in her eyes.

"I don't think you should be smiling." The girl said, watching as her mother's grin spread across her face, "I think there is something seriously wrong with me, and you're smiling."

She was enveloped into a giant hug as her mother chuckled softly.

"No, sweetheart, there is nothing wrong with you. You're just growing up."

Alice tilted her head, obviously not understanding what her mother was telling her, "Huh?"

"Come on, I think we need to have a little talk." Donna moved her hand to hand to Alice's back and the two of them started to walk towards the master bedroom, "Now, do you know how babies are made?"

The girl blinked, "Yeah, through sexual intercourse." She said nonchalantly looking up at her mum.

Donna stopped in her tracks and her face held a questioning gaze.

"I read." Alice said shortly.

Donna nodded, making a mental note to talk to the Doctor about placing some of the library books in some sort of restricted area, and began to walk once more, "Well, in order to make a baby, a girl, when she comes of age goes through what's called a menstrual cycle, it means that you are now able to have children."

"But I won't right, cause I haven't had intercourse." Alice said panicking once more.

"You're right; you haven't had sex, so you won't have children. And you better not have them for a long, long time, got it?" Donna told her daughter, "Don't make me a grandmother for a very long time."

Alice grinned, "Got it." She smiled up at her mother, "You can stop crying, you know."

Donna nodded, "I know, it's just that I'm so happy." She stooped low and hugged her child, "My little girl is all grown up. Now, let me show you how to take care of this, okay, after all you have to look forward to this for the next six days."

"Six Days!!" Alice cried out, "That's not fair!"

Donna smiled as she wrapped her arm around Alice's shoulders ushering her into the bedroom, "I know, love, I know."
