The Doctor closed his eyes at her touch loving the way her fingers moved through his hair, his head relaxed on her lap as his body splayed across the sofa.

They both were content from dinner and the decided to have tea in the library in front of the fire; their talk was light as well as their touches. They minds were still reeling from today and their bodies ached with reminder.

Every so often the Doctor would slip his hand into his pocket to grasp the velvet box that held the ring that would bind them together. He knew that this was what he wanted, he wanted nothing more then to acknowledge her has his wife and constant companion. He wanted to feel that rush of happiness every time he looked at the ring on her hand knowing that she was his.

He had practiced many times the words he would say, wanting to make sure that she understood his love for her and that he was completely serious about this. Donna knew his opinions on domesticity and had respect for his wishes, telling him that she was happy with any kind of life he gave her and asked for nothing more then that. It was just another reason why he loved her.

Her fingers continued her ministrations, making small circles around his temples, even trailing down along his jaw.

"Donna?"

She made a soft humming sound and he looked up to see her eyes closed.

He took her hand into his own and placed a kiss on the open palm, she emitted another hum and her fingers interlaced with his.

"Donna?" He asked again.

"Yes, love, what is it?"

The Doctor continued to stare at her, watching as her eyes opened, the blue eyes meeting his brown ones and he would see that she was just about to fall asleep.

He smiled to himself and slowly rose from the couch, a twinge of pain shot down his back, but he lifted her relaxed body into his arms. A smile drifted to his tired face as her head lolled onto his shoulder.

The Doctor maneuvered her so he could press is lips into the soft locks of ginger.

"Come on, bed time." He whispered as he walked out of the library, ignoring the pressure of the box against his leg. There was plenty of time for that, at the moment all he wanted was to fall asleep in her arms.

As he walked down the hall towards their bedroom, the thought of a soft pillow and her warm arms was more then enough to convince him that he could use a couple hours sleep.

He pushed open the door with the toe of his sock clad foot; he slowly set her down on the bed and began to remove her jumper and the clips from her hair. Donna sighed as her head fell back onto the bed, and her eyes opened.

"Hi." She whispered taking his hand into hers, rubbing his knuckles with the pad of her thumb.

The Doctor chuckled lightly, "Hey."

The blue sleep filled eyes looked around her before they found his face once again, "Is it bed time?"

He nodded, "Yep."

She lifted her arms up to him, inviting him in. He bent down and hugged her tightly, burying his face into the crook of her neck, wanting to take it further, but he knew that they were both too tired to do so.

"Love you." She told him, her hands loosening; silently telling him to ease his grip from around her.

The Doctor pulled back silently, gazing down at her, "I love you too."

He brought one of his hands up and cupped her cheek, "My Donna." He said her name with love in his voice, "My beautiful, brilliant, wonderful Donna."

She smiled up at him, her eyes sparkling in the dim light.

His right hand slowly reached inside his pocket, "I don't ever want to think of my life without you, and deep down I know that one day I'm going to have to let you go." He swallowed harshly at the unchangeable fact and continued, "So right now, I'm going to live each day as it comes, and I want you beside me."

Donna's lips parted as she started to breathe harder, and tears filled her eyes as she felt her heart beat wildly in her chest. Her eyes drifted towards his hand, and she gasped when she saw the box immerge from his pocket.

He took her left hand and kissed it tenderly, "You are everything to me, and it would mean so much if you accept this," He opened the box and the diamond glinted at her before he glanced back down at her, "Donna, will you be my wife?"

She bit her bottom lip trying to stop the tears, but she had no control over it and they spilled over her cheeks as she sat up and threw her arms around his neck, "Yes! Oh, God, yes."

A grin broke across his face as he hugged her close, feeling his own tears of happiness fall; knowing that this moment was the start of a brand new life for them both.
