“What are you doing?” Sam chuckled. Jules was standing in the middle of her small backyard, head tilting up with both hands under her eyes.

“I haven’t got around taking care of my garden,” She answered flippantly, keeping her hands in place to block the view below the eyes. “And this day is far too beautiful I don’t want to ruin it by being reminded of it.”

It was Sunday morning and they were having breakfast when a few sporadic flakes fell from the sky. She left her pancake half eaten and dashed out. Right on cue, the snow began to come down more heavily, shimmering and rustled by the wind before landing on the ground. It was amazing, knowing that the world would soon be covered in a blanket of whiteness.

The whole setting was a reminder of her childhood; when everything was still alright.

Taking down her hands, she closed her eyes and stuck her tongue out, grinning when she felt a prick of coldness in her mouth.

“What are you doing?”

“Catching snowflakes on my tongue.” She answered before moving on to the next pursuit.

Sam smiled and approached his girlfriend. It was freezing outside and she only wore a tank top and pajama pants. It didn’t appear that she cared, though. He moved to stand in front of her and looked up, instantly shielding his eyes when the sunlight hit his face.

“Don’t tell me you never did this before?” Jules rubbed her bare arms for some warmth.

Instead of answering, Sam leaned down and captured her lips, sliding his tongue into her opened mouth. Albeit surprised, Jules reciprocated the kiss. After a long minute he pulled back, his arms wrapped securely around her.

“What was that all about?”

Sam winked. “Catching snowflakes on my tongue.”
