Soaked // Sam, Jules // Rated PG

Sam was sitting on the bed while waiting for his girlfriend to emerge from the bathroom. She had been unusually quiet this evening. They had eaten dinner in mostly comfortable silence and she had left him watching some reality show rerun on TV before retiring to the bedroom.

While some people might not agree with him, he was pretty perceptive, especially about things he cared about. Still, it didn’t take a rocket scientist to figure out what was probably going through her head now. He had told her about what had happened earlier in the day. Jules wasn’t exactly thrilled hearing how the case with Walter and Semple had played out.

His train of thoughts was interrupted when Jules walked out of the bathroom. Her hair was up in a messy ponytail and her expression was difficult to read; nothing new though he’s getting better at that.

While she didn’t exactly fancy lacy, feminine nightwear, she owned one or two nighties that had caused them almost coming late to work in the morning. Normally though, she would just go to bed in tank top and pajamas pants. Of course, there were some occasions when they didn’t really bother to put anything on… but now’s not the time to think about that.

Standing there in one of his t-shirts, Jules appeared to be even smaller, looking like a lost little kid.

“Come here.” He simply said and opened his arms as she climbed into the bed. He engulfed her in a warm embrace, tugging her back closer to his chest. He sighed in relief that she let him hold her.

She hadn’t fully grasped the concept of their forbidden relationship. She was professional. Jules Callaghan did not break the rules. She didn’t know what scared her more: the fact that Sam had had a brush with death or because hearing the news had shattered her heart a great deal.

Jules wanted everything to be definite and absolute, but right now, she had no answer to that question.

Sam began to hum a song and run his fingers over her arm in a soothing caress, hoping the lullaby would lull her to sleep. It wasn’t until twenty minutes later he felt her body relax completely against his.

Pressing a lingering kiss to her head, Sam closed his eyes and marveled at her presence.

Tomorrow was another day, but tonight, they were one.

Somehow I felt better after writing some fluffiness :)
