I have to agree wholeheartedly with you 'partying in both camps' opinion. I understand the whole need-for-speed and electronic stuff, but I have a thing about apostrophes. For instance, we didn't get taught about who and whom in school but apostrophes we most certainly did! I think it should be made an offence to misspell any sign shown to the public (the charge for that offence to be replacing the sign) and everyone should have their stuff proofread! I thought White Dwarf was bad and unusually awful until I read Building! They're all the goddamn same!
Also, I make up my own words that make sense. Whether it's actually making up my own words or reintroducing old ones, I'm not sure, but 'trepidant' is one of my favourites :D
