They say that they want to encourage new readers to come in by resetting everything, but at the same time the lack of respect that is being shown for their current readers is ASTOUNDING. What happens to the characters and the stories and the books that we love?
I am pleased to see more characters of color. I am displeased at those that are being removed. There are changes that shouldn't be made, but there are books that I am excited for.
I am so, SO upset that Gail Simone is the only female writer that has been announced so far, out of 48 books. The emotional highs and lows are staggering, but when it comnes down to it, the fact that no information is being presented to reassure those of us that are worried. By attempting to wow us, DC is just confusing and disrespecting us.
As a friend of mine put it, ''I guess when they spoke about increasing diversity in the DCU, that didn't include the people shaping it.''
You're absolutely right, and I agree completely. This is shit I have been saying over and over. This core creative team at DC are the guys that are obsessed with their silver age childhood heroes, and all they seem to want to do is show these characters off.
I want something new. I want something that applies to ME. And I had that with Oracle, and Renee Montoya, and Scandal, and now it's gone.
There is some hope and rumor that the Barb thing is just.... virtual reality. But Secret Six, well FUCK YOU DC! I am more a Marvel fan, but I used to think I could go to DC when I was feeling down to cheer me up. :I

I emailed Isha the other day and then I remembered all our past fun times, including Julie Andrews and Axl and JRM!
And of course I just had to tell you that :D
