It took a while, but the new Cowboy Junkies album "One Soul Now" is starting to grow on me. Aside from track 9, Simon Keeper, it's all new material. Simon Keeper would be new if they hadn't played it live at The Tabernacle back in 2000, and left me wondering what the heck I had just heard. I've been thinking about Play the World, but I like a low-challenge game, and reports that they have massively cut down the amount of resources available have worried me. Do you find it so?

I haven't actually tried it online against other players yet. I guess that if we do, elemess and jrosehale might be able to join us after some small expenditures, as well as some fellow Tech Band Alumni. Any interest, guys? You don't mind if I volunteer your checkbooks, do you? ;-)

I've played Civ2 Multiplayer before against friends, and I always found that I was too cowardly to take the first shot against one of them. Strangely enough, so did they, and it became a four-way race to the stars. Eventually they got hooked on Alpha Centauri instead, and the subject hasn't come up. With Civ2, you connected directly to another person's PC, rather than through Firaxis Headquarters. I don't know enough about PlayTheWorld to say if it works one way or the other.

I'll have to look into it some more.
